Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is counseling confidential?
Pueblo and surrounding areas are somewhat of a “big little town,” sometimes we bump into one another; but when that person is your counselor, you should know exactly how confidential your information is! We take your confidentiality very seriously! Not only is counseling protected by federal law, but we go well beyond what is required. We’d love to tell you more if you have questions.
  • Who is the right counselor for me?
You always get to choose your counselor. Even if you start with one, you can always switch. We want you to have the very best fit at Willow Tree. Our counselors have a wide range of counseling experience. Don’t be afraid to make this experience work for you!
  • What can I expect during an intial session?
During your first session, you will complete some initial paperwork and we will develop a plan for our work together. Our therapists will also spend some time learning about your personal history, as well as explore your ideas of what counseling is like.
  • Are you accepting new clients?
Availability is dependent on the counselor you are wishing to be placed with. While counselors are frequently discharging clients who have successfully completed treatment, these spots do fill up quickly as we receive referrals daily. We will always do our best to find an available therapist who can best meet your needs.
  • Can I be placed on a Waiting List?
Unfortunately, with the high volume of referrals and personal calls we receive on a daily basis, maintaining a Waiting List is difficult to accomplish. You are always welcome to call our office to check on the availability status of individual counselors and our practice as a whole, and we recommend checking back with us every 2-4 weeks to see if availability has changed/opened up. You can also ask if individual therapists would be willing to collect your information incase they have availability come up.
  • What insurances do you accept?
Our office is licensed to accept Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield practice-wide, meaning any of our counselors and interns are able to accept these insurances. Licensed counselors such as Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs), etc. are credentialed in other insurances individually, and many on our team accept United Healthcare, Kaiser, Medicare, etc. Please see our “Staff” page to see a list of insurances each counselor individually accepts. Some insurance companies require copayments, so please assure your knowledge of patient responsibility at time of service.
  • How do I pay for counseling without using insurance?
Our counselors understand that not everyone wishes to utilize their insurance to receive counseling benefits. Our standard cash-rates are listed on our “Counseling Services” page, and typically range from $125 for the initial intake session and go down to $110 for sessions following the intake. Many of our therapists also offer sliding-scale rates for those who cannot afford the standard private pay rates. Each therapist sets their own private rate, so please call our office to receive more information.
